Staff Conference 2022
SAC’s 5th Annual Staff Conference – Bringing UTA Together
The Staff Advisory Council is bringing back its first in-person conference since 2019. The conference connects faculty and staff across campus while providing opportunities for employees to network and learn from each other. The annual event initiates collaborative relationships across campus while working toward the University’s goal of fostering excellent student support. The all-day conference will take place on the second level of the University Center June 10, and offers tracks for professional development; health and wellness; and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
“I think people will get a lot from the conference,” said Candice Beckman, who serves on SAC’s Staff Development Committee that coordinates the conference. Attendees can choose sessions and times. “We'll have staff that come and do a morning session and then they leave so that their colleagues can come for the afternoon.” An added feature this year: therapy dogs will be available for “stress relief”/petting during the break.
“It’s so great meeting new people and learning the new processes,” said Marcy Garcia, a regular attendee of SAC Conferences. “It’s such a cost-effective way for staff to grow and take new ideas back to their team.”
As of 5/27, there were more than one hundred registrants. That number is expected to grow exponentially next week. “If we learned anything from the SAC Benefits Fair in March, with over 300 attendees, it’s that people are ready to be back and see each other in person,” said Christopher Templeton, SAC Executive Board Member (Webmaster & Communications Chair).
All employees of the University are welcome to attend the conference, and the free registration includes lunch. Registration is required for space purposes and lunch counts. Staff can register on the Training Class and Events Page: https://webapp.uta.edu/oit-training/.
