UT CARETM Medicare PPO (UT Care)
Overview
UT CARE Annual Enrollment for the 2025 plan year will be from November 1-15, 2024. During UT CARE Annual Enrollment, you may make changes to your UTCARE coverage only, such as adding coverage, dropping coverage, adding dependents, or removing dependents. Any changes made during the UT CARE annual enrollment will become effective January 1, 2025. UT Care Annual Enrollment is passive, meaning if you do not want to make any changes, no action is required. Your current insurance coverage will continue to the new benefit year if no action is taken. If you previously opted out of UT Care and would like to enroll in UT Care during the November 1- 15 annual enrollment, please contact Benefit Services at 817-272-554 or benefits@uta.edu to enroll. All other UT Care Annual Enrollment changes must be made in the My UT Benefits portal during the Annual Enrollment period.

- Enroll in UT CARE if you are not already enrolled in UT CARE.
- You must be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B to be in UT CARE.
- If you're not already enrolled in Part B, please contact Medicare to begin that process.
- Decline enrollment in UT CARE (opt out).
- If you opt out, you will not have UT medical coverage, prescription coverage, or basic life insurance ($10,000), but will still retain any voluntary coverage.
- You may re-enroll in UT CARE during future annual enrollment periods or within 31 days of a qualifying event.
Highlights of UT CARE Benefits Changes
- The UT Care medical plan rates will increase for the 2025 plan year.
- Premium rate changes for and UT Care will be effective January 1, 2025.

- There is a change to the UT CARE Part D prescription plan design: there will now be a $2,000 out of pocket copay limit. Once a person pays up to $2,000 in prescription copays, there will be no more prescription copays within the same plan year. The plan year begins every January 1.
- Insulin cost limits will be in place so that no deductible applies and no more than $35 copay will be collected for a one-month supply.
Annual Enrollment Reminders
- The Annual Enrollment election window is open November 1st through 11:59pm Central Standard Time on November 15th.
- If you make any changes during UCARE Annual Enrollment, review your confirmation statement within My UT Benefits and keep a copy for your records.
- Keep your UT CARE medical and prescription ID cards for the new 2025 plan year, as they will not being reissued for plan year 2025.
- Expect new UT CARE medical ID cards only for newly elected UT CARE coverage.
