A Letter from the Retirees Club President

Thanksgiving has been a time for each of us to reflect and be grateful for the many gifts and blessings, that we have been given. A successful career of hard work and creating relationships with colleagues that we have spent so much time with over the ten, twenty, thirty, and for some forty years. These last two years have been quite interesting and have forced us to rethink many activities and interactions with friends and family. Families of some of our members are grieving the deaths of their loved ones due to COVID and other causes. Each has given so much to our wonderful University and will be missed by families, friends, and UTA colleagues.

Each of you, our Retiree colleagues, are very important to our Retirees Club and the University. Our team of Retiree Officers and Human Resources Leadership continue talks regarding Retirees Club Membership activities, as we reach out to all retiree members throughout our University.

As we begin Spring 2023, we will include both TEAMS and onsite meetings on our campus at Trinity Hall 750 Greek Row Dr, Arlington, TX 76013. Many of you live out of Arlington, Texas, and some of you outside of the state and country. Hopefully, this accommodation will be helpful to all retirees. Gina Fenwick has made TEAMS an easy access for even grandmothers like me. We will send our Spring Schedule in the next couple of weeks.

I communicated with President Cowley’s office in early Spring 2022 to ask that she speak to our Retirees. I immediately received a response from Elsa, “Yes, the President wishes to speak to Retirees!” Please join us on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 2:00 via TEAMS for a Coffee Chat, as we get to know our new President!

We invite you to join our officer team as we plan further activities for Retirees. Please email your ideas to me at Theriot@uta.edu!

Dr. Shirley Theriot, President
