What is the Summer Step Team Challenge 2025?
- The Summer Steps team challenge is a UTA campus-wide challenge hosted on the UT Living Well Platform powered by Limeade.
- Participants can form a new team or join an existing one upon challenge registration. Each team is between 3-5 members. To earn 500 total points, teams must collectively log 1 million steps throughout the 6-week challenge.
- Teams who earn 500 total points, will be entered into a drawing to win a Summer Steps Challenge T-Shirt.
- Check out My Updates for weekly tips and ideas to get your steps in.
Who can participate?
All UT SELECT and UT CARE members age 18 and older. Whether you’re just starting out with exercise or physical activity has been part of your daily routine for a while, you’re encouraged to participate!
Joining is easy: locate the challenge on the Discover Tab, click on the activity card, and click the “Get Started” button.
How to participate:
- Create or join a team of 3-5 people
- Track your daily progress within the challenge
- You can only backtrack up to two weeks of progress
- Earn 500 points after your team logs a combined 1 million total steps over the 6-week challenge
Your 500 points go towards the Believe, Achieve, and Succeed levels on the UT Living Well platform powered by Limeade (see tab My Points for more information).
For example, it will take 9,500 steps on average per person, 6 days a week, for a 3-member team to meet the goal. You and your teammates can find the combination that works best based on team composition, lifestyle, and fitness level!
What are the leaderboards?
- Team leaderboard - shows totals for teams
While leaderboards are for fun and motivation, institution winners are determined by completion rates: number of participants who earned 500 points

The team size of each challenge can be found at the top of the tracker, as well as when creating or finding a team.
Recruiting a successful team is part of the competition! Each team can recruit as many members as they'd like until the team hits capacity. To maximize your team's chances, get your colleagues involved!
Your team can continue to participate, however it will not be eligible for incentive points or other prizes. If you absolutely can’t find enough teammates, you have the ability to leave your team and join another team -- see 'How can I switch teams?' below.
To switch teams, open the menu in the top right-hand corner of the challenge and select 'Remove from your activities'. After confirming that you’d like to leave your team, you will be able to find another team to join or create a new team. Please note that if you’ve tracked activity already, it will remain with the team you are leaving (see below question).
If you leave a challenge all your tracked activity will stay with the team. Your activity will not follow you from team to team.
You can backtrack activity up to two weeks after the challenge start date. Simply choose the appropriate day when entering your activity.
Possibly not! You have three days after any challenge ends to record your activity before winners are declared. To record your activity for previous days, see the question above.
Most likely, that happened because that person either hasn't registered for this service, or registered under a different email address. You might have to ask them for the email address under which they registered. You also have the ability to invite co-workers using their username.
Comments can be seen by all challenge participants from all teams. However, you have the ability to mark your activities as private, in which case that activity will only be seen by you.
