NIH Data Sharing and Management Policy
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) policy that is effective on January 25, 2023. This Policy applies to research funded or conducted by NIH that results in the generation of scientific data.
Under this Policy, the NIH requires that a Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMS Plan) be submitted with the grant application. The controls, security measures, and informed consent procedures outlined in the approved DMS plan for human subject research must be included in the IRB protocol application and informed consent documents.
