MSI Opportunities
UTA is eligible to submit proposals and applications to the opportunities listed below; confirmed by the staff in pre-award.
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) has been designated by the United States Department of Education (DoE) as an Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
UTA meets the two criteria required for this designation:

Nationally accredited (or pre-accredited) institution of higher education that meets the DoE’s requirement of the number of enrolled students with high financial need, and low (average) educational and general (E&G) expenditures per undergraduate full-time equivalent (FTE), as compared to other similar programs; and,
-
Undergraduate FTE enrollment of at least 25 percent Hispanic students at the end of the award year immediately preceding the date of application.
UTA meets the criteria required for the AANAPISI designation:
- Enrollment of needy students and low average educational and general expenditures per FTE (full-time equivalent) undergraduate student, legally authorized to provide, and provides within the state, an educational program for which such institution awards a bachelor's degree or a junior or community college; or the College of the Marshall Islands, the College of Micronesia/Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau Community College; accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association; and at the time of application,
- has an enrollment of undergraduate students that is at least 10 percent Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander students.
