Dear ACF Researchers:

It has been several years since we last adjusted the per diem rates for the Animal Care Facility. During that period, costs have increased significantly, and we have fallen behind in covering the portion of facility costs that have traditionally been funded by animal per diems (https://resources.uta.edu/research/regulatory-services/animal-subjects/animal-care-per-diem-rates.php). As we have in the past, we also surveyed other institutions to ensure our rates align with those encountered by investigators elsewhere. Based on both measures, we need to raise our animal per diem rates and establish a more regular schedule for their adjustment. Please see the table below.

As a reminder, these rates include all essential services provided by the ACF Staff and the Veterinarian. Most institutions add additional fees for anything from ordering animals to routine treatments. Also, remember that for our rodent researchers, since our per diems are calculated per animal rather than per cage, single-animal housing does not incur an additional cost.
