Online Program Course Development

The Online Program Course Development project, part of the eLearning TM program, focuses on creating high-quality, innovative and flexible online and digitally based course content that supports the upskilling or reskilling of current students, alumni and new learners. The Center for Distance Education’s instructional design team partners with faculty to build courses and academic programs that reflect Quality Matters (QM) standards and provides high-quality, engaging learning experiences to online learners.

Planning meetings were held for each academic certificate program, including academic administration, program faculty, CDE and Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE) staff. Certificate programs were assigned to a lead CDE instructional designer who worked alongside faculty to build each online course and the overall academic certificate program to meet the rigorous design standards set by Quality Matters (QM) wand, including sound use of current and emerging digital technologies. Incorporated into each certificate’s course building process were weekly collaborative meetings with CDE and CRTLE that focused on areas of course design and pedagogical interests expressed by the program’s faculty.
