VERIFICATIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Work Number is an automated service that securely provides instant employment and income verifications for the university current and previous employees. It can be used when applying for a loan, buying a car, leasing an apartment, qualifying for public assistance, requesting Immigration verification or similar instances where proof of employment or income is needed. 

The Work Number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This process streamlines the transfer of information between employers, verifiers and government agencies.  This benefits the employee by accelerating the decision process without compromising your data privacy.

How It Works

The Work Number is a fast and secure way to provide proof of employment or income, a necessary step in many of today’s life events involving credit, financing or securing of benefits or services. The Work Number simplifies the verification process and accelerates credit decisions through an online system available to agencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When an employee applies for credit or other services and proof of employment or income is required, the authorized agency can get this information from the Work Number.

Your Information 

Typically, an employee would not need to access The Work Number site to gain a Verification of Employment as their lender should be doing this.  If you encounter issues with getting information from The Work Number, contact the Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement Data & Records Services department at hrrecords@uta.edu or 817-272-5554.

Employment Data Report

An Employment Data Report (EDR) gives you the ability to see the information potentially being given out on you when a verification is requested. Salary Key

If you are asked to provide a salary key as your consent you must visit:

1. theworknumber.com/employees or call 800-367-2884
   (1-800-424-0253 for TTY if hearing impaired)
   Enter the University of Texas Employer Code: 13937
   Enter your Social Security Number
   Enter the PIN# which will be sent to your mobile number
2. Follow the instructions to create a salary key
3. Provide the salary key to the person seeking your proof of income, and direct them to theworknumber.com to complete the verification process

The agency, who has been carefully screened and credentialed before gaining access to the system, uses the University of Texas at Arlington employer code: 13937 and your Social Security Number to look up your record on The Work Number database

The agency must provide a valid reason or permissible purpose for requesting the information, as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

The University of Texas at Arlington Payroll Office securely transmits employment and income data to The Work Number on a regular cycle, so the information remains current.

With the above conditions met, the agency can validate your employment or income in seconds, accelerating the decision process and helping you obtain the credit you are requesting.
